Friday - 2 days post-op

Today was a mixed up kind of a day, some good things, some not so pleasant. Jaimi had a bit of a rough night last night with pain with movement and difficulty relaxing, but was feeling much better this morning. She had a bed bath this morning and then worked with therapy and got up to the chair next to her bed and sat for a half hour. She was horribly dizzy and wanted to go back to bed almost immediately. She toughed it out for the full half hour, but it was a hard half hour for her. She got a bit nauseous too. She went back to bed and slept hard for an hour or two, then I painted her toenails and re-did her braids. :)
Her gut is starting to work a bit again and she started drinking clear liquids - ice chips, sprite, water, slushies. Therapy came back in in the afternoon and got her back up to the chair for another half hour. She did much better the second time, was still dizzy, but not nauseous, and was able to keep her eyes open easier. (She's still pretty drowsy from meds.) Granny, Grandpa, Nathan, Celeste and Jake came to visit while she was sitting up this time. Between that and brushing her teeth and drinking a slushy, the time passed faster and easier for her and although she was tired when she got back to bed, she wad surprised at how fast the time had gone. Granny and the kids made her a nice blanket which she cuddled in. We tried to compare her height against Nathan's - it's pretty close. Then she move back onto "the floor" - out of the special care unit and into her regular room. Her nurse took out her art line and one of her IVs. And she doesn't have to have the heart monitor on either. She's losing wires. :)
Right when Granny, Grandpa and the kids left, her friend Olivia and a few other people came to visit. She was happy to see them and it was hilarious to listen to Jaimi and Liv teasing each other.
All this activity tired her out a lot and she took a good nap again after everyone left, which she really needed because she was starting to get grouchy. :) Tomorrow we expect to see her walking, to get taught how to get her out of bed to the chair or bathroom by ourselves, and hopefully start eating some soft foods. Her fever resolved on its own - yay! I'll put some pictures up from today too. Can't figure out how to do more than one at a time from the electronics I have right now, so it's just going to look like I'm posting a lot. G'nite.
