She's done!

The surgeon and the P.A. Just came in to tell us that Jaimi's surgery is done and she did great. She lost about 24 oz of blood, but they used a 'cell saver' and gave her back her own blood - about half of what she lost. They didn't have to fuse as many vertebrae as they had expected, they fused T4 - T12 and place the rods and screws and corrected her curve to about 20 degrees. She had been over 70 degrees before. They are transferring her to the Special Care Unit now and Pam and I will get to go in to see her in just a little bit. She'll be pretty out of it for the rest of the day today. They put in an epidural for pain control and she also has a pain pump through her IV. Tomorrow they will sit her on the side of the bed and start giving her ice chips.

Some of you have asked for the address here so here you go.
Shriner's Hospital for Children
Fairfax Rd. at Virginia St.
Salt Lake City, UT 84103

And Jaimi's in room 21.

I'm so relieved that this part is over! Thanks for your prayers and love. And feel free to keep them coming! :)

  1. Do you know how long she will be in the hospital?

  2. She'll be in the hospital for about a week, then we will go back to her Granny's house in American Fork, UT for a while longer.
